Training for New and Continuing Leaders

Girl Scouts of Western Washington is committed to providing volunteers adult education. Adult learning programs develop new skills and insights are all part of the Girl Scout program!  Training requirements for new and continuing leaders are found at the Girl Scouts Western Washington Troop Leader - Learning web site.  This Adult Learning Progression Chart​ is a nice illustration of training requirements for all leaders.  Note, some training is required while other training is optional depending on your troop activities.

Training for New Leaders

Before your first meeting: 
Class #1 - Girl Scouting 101 (On-
line, 45 minutes)
This online presentation from GSUSA is your first step to Girl Scouting! Learn more about volunteering with Girl Scouts and the basics of the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience before taking Getting Started​.

Class #2 - Getting Started (online modules)
The Getting Started online modules cover the topics you'll need to get started as a troop leader, including Family Involvement, Meeting Sites, Planning Meetings, and Banking.


Before or after your first meeting: 
Class #3 - Jump into Journeys (Classroom, 3 hours)
Have fun looking at the Journey materials; experiencing several Journey activities; seeing girl-led, learning by doing and cooperative learning in action; and exchanging ideas for customizing Journeys. Current workshop information can be found here.
